I don't know if I have correctly understood your explanation. For most signals with reasonable compressor settings you won't likely hear any difference. In order to hear the effect of the upsampling/downsample AA thing, you would need a file with significant content above 11KHz (at 44.1KHz sample rate) and then slam it into the compressor so hard that it distorts, which will add harmonic content in multiples, and cause aliasing.
